As a public timepiece, the annual maintenance of the clock on the tower of St Mary’s parish church in Cross Green is paid for by the council. The clock strikes the hour, with a single strike on the half hour.
The clock was presented by James and Mary Trickett of Eversleigh House, South Darley. It was dedicated on 24 May, 1950 and has been maintained by Smiths of Derby ever since.
