Local travel

Buses

The 172 service by Hulley’s runs to Matlock from Wensley, via Darley Bridge and Darley Dale, and to Bakewell from Darley Bridge via Wensley,  Winster, Elton, Birchover, Stanton in Peak and Haddon Hall. Please see this poster.

There are also morning and evening school-day buses between Elton/Winster and Highfields School, Matlock via Wensley, Darley Bridge and Darley Dale run by Yorkshire Stagecoach (see timetables for 169 and 470). 

Community Transport

Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport is a local charity offering a variety of transport services, including accessible trips and a volunteer car scheme with individual tailor-made journeys to medical appointments for those who would otherwise struggle to access essential healthcare services, including hospital appointments, opticians, dentists and clinics. Trains

The nearest train station is Darley Dale Station, opened in 1849. This is now a heritage line with diesel and steam trains run by Peak Rail, with a connection to the main railway network at Matlock Station. For train services beyond Matlock, see: Derwent Valley Line.

Cycling

The nearest cycle path is along the Derwent Valley between Rowsley and Matlock, via Darley Dale. See: Matlock to Rowsley Cycle Path.
