Vacancy for Parish Councillor

A vacancy has occurred for a Parish Councillor for South Darley Ward (i.e. Darley Bridge) of South Darley Parish Council. The vacancy is to be filled by co-option at the next meeting of South Darley Parish Council.

If you would like to serve as a Parish Councillor, please apply in writing or by email to the Clerk (details below). Please provide brief details about you, your background and why you would like to join South Darley Parish Council.

To qualify to be a Parish Councillor, a person must…
• be a British citizen
• be aged over 18 years old and an elector
• not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor
• live in or within 3 miles of the South Darley Parish boundary
OR
• occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises in the South Darley Parish
OR
• have their principal or only place of work in the South Darley Parish.

Previous experience or knowledge of being a Parish Councillor is not essential, but candidates should have a keen interest in the Parish and a willingness to serve the best interests of the community is a must.
