Ward Boundaries

Of the three levels of local government:

  • PARISH: the parish council has successfully lobbied to retain Oker and Snitterton as a ward in South Darley Parish
  • DISTRICT: currently, with the strong support of residents, we are actively seeking to reverse the decision by the Boundary Commission to place Oker and Snitterton within Matlock West District Council Ward
  • COUNTY: The Boundary Commission is seeking the views of Derbyshire residents regarding potential revisions to ward boundaries for the County Council.

South Darley Parish Council is asking residents to respond to this latest consultation and in particular, it would be helpful if you would:

1) emphasise the connections within South Darley parish between the rural communities of Darley Bridge, Oker, Snitterton and Wensley (rather than with urban Matlock): not least through the local organisations such as the South Darley parish church, South Darley Primary School, South Darley village hall, South Darley and Wensley Reading Room and a range of societies and groups.

2) urge the Boundary Commission to follow the parish/town boundary in this area, and NOT the district wards (which we are seeking to overturn).
