South Darley Parish Council leases a piece of land alongside Wenslees in Darley Bridge, for use as allotments. The existing 16 full plots are being divided into 32 half-plots as they become available. The half-plots are about 170m2 on average and the annual cost of a half-plot is £25.
We have a policy of offering plots to residents of the parish first. They do become available from time to time, so anyone who would like one should contact the Parish Clerk.
Plots are rented on an annual basis and tenants sign an agreement which sets out various requirements. These include matters such as the use of the land “primarily for the cultivation of fruit, vegetables and flowers for the use and consumption by them or their family”. Commercial use is not permitted. Hens and rabbits may also be kept. Further detail is given here: https://southdarleyparishcouncil.gov.uk/allotments/
